Love the rain, for it can bring you wisdom! Here is an old yogi story of the 4 paths to become meditative.
You can use the body to reach your ultimate nature - called karma yoga. If you use your intelligence it is jnana yoga. If you use your emotions to reach your ultimate nature we can this bhakti yoga. If you use or transform your inner energies to reach your ultimate nature we call this kriya yoga.
One day these 4 yogis went walking together on a path. they usually stay away from each other because they can never get along. People who follow the path of intellect have great disdain for others- they think everyone else is a nutcase. Emotional yogis have pity for others - poor things they are missing everything. Karma yogis are people of action - they think others just make excuses for their laziness. Kriya yogis have disdain for everybody because they belieb the whole existence is energy.
Usually they cannot get along, but today they are all taking a walk together. Suddenly a storm broke loose. Big rains and wind . they started running looking for shelter. The yogi man of devotion knew there was a temple up ahead and suggested they go there. they all ran to the temple where the wall had collapsed and all that stood were columns and a roof over a statue of God. The storm became more severe and all 4 yogis hugged the statue - not because they loved God but because they wanted to escape the rain. As they did this suddenly God appeared. All of them had the same question - "why now?" I have done so much yoga, so much mediation and You never came. Why now?
God said " I have been waiting for you 4 idiots to get together.".
This is a funny little story to help us realize that often the mind is going in 1 direction. the body in another, the emotions yet another and our energy is a different matter altogether! If we can somehow align them for 1 moment , we can see a different dimension for us.
Peace!
